The National Hurricane Center is currently monitoring a tropical disturbance north of Hispaniola, and is forecasting a 60% chance for this system to develop into a tropical depression or storm in the eastern Gulf over the next 5 days. Based on current guidance, it is unlikely that SE Texas will receive any direct impacts from this system. To our marine partners, there is a potential for increased winds and seas over the coastal waters if the system tracks further to the west than currently forecast.
A disorganized tropical disturbance is currently located over the southwestern Atlantic this morning. The system is expected to remain north of Hispaniola and Cuba as it continues to move northwestward towards the Gulf of Mexico. The National Hurricane Center currently forecasts a 20% chance for the disturbance to develop into a tropical depression or storm over the next 48 hours, and a 60% chance over the next 5 days.
