As of 2 pm Sunday afternoon a low pressure system was developing over the western Caribbean Sea. This system will cross the Yucatan and likely enter the Gulf tomorrow. The system now has a 70 percent chance of becoming a tropical depression or storm in the next 48 hours, a 90% chance in the next 5 days.
There remains considerable uncertainty in where the tropical cyclone develops and where it tracks for there. As of this afternoon some scenarios bring the system to the Mid and Upper Texas coast as early as late Wednesday or Thursday, others keep the storm farther away.
