TRUCK HITS TREE 14 FEET OFF THE GROUND

At 10:40 this morning Marina Smith, 30 of Conroe was driving northbound on FM 1485 near Pearson Road. She had been applying makeup as she was on her way to work. When she entered the curve in front of Baker Signs the Ford Expedition left the right shoulder, traveled through the ditch and struck a culvert pipe. The vehicle then went airborne striking a pine tree on the opposite side of Baker Signs driveway 14 feet off the ground. It then struck another pine tree splitting it in two. The vehicle came to rest in the ditch below upside down.

Caney Creek Fire Department responded to the scene and spent almost 1 hour trying to get Smith, who had minor injuries out of the vehicle. In full gear in close to 100 degrees they worked non stop until she was free and transported to Conroe Regional Hospital by MCHD.
