An officer-involved shooting took place Wednesday morning after a stabbing occurred at 74 Chestnut Meadow in the Carriage Hills/Jacobs Reserve Subdivision off FM 1488.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the residence shortly after 5:30 a.m. after an 11-year-old boy made a 9-1-1 call, reporting that his father had stabbed his mother with a knife.
Upon arrival, deputies met the 11-year-old boy, who was reportedly covered in blood, at the front door of the residence.
A sheriff’s deputy stayed with him while the others went to investigate the master bedroom where they were confronted by Medger Blake, 43, with a knife in hand.
Blake was ordered by law enforcement to drop the knife, but didn’t comply. Two deputies fired their weapons at him.
Blake’s wife, Rose Blake, 37, was reportedly lying on the floor at the time in critical condition with multiple stab wounds, and what appeared to be a cut throat.
Medics with the Montgomery County Hospital District entered the home and determined Rose and Medger Blake to be deceased.
Family members were notified and came to the scene. The young boy was taken with investigators to Children’s Safe Harbor, which employs investigators who are trained to work with children.
The Texas Rangers and Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office is assisting in the investigation. The deputies involved in the shooting have been with MCSO for several years.
