Tuesday morning, Conroe Police and Fire, along with MCHD, were dispatched to 4101 Interstate 45 southbound feeder to the crash site of a 1993 Mercedes and its deceased driver. The vehicle also contained two passengers, identified as 23-year-old Corey Len Knox and 22-year-old Victoria Anne Knauer-McAney. Knox was transported to Conroe Regional Hospital, and Knauer-McAney was flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital In Houston by PHI Air Medical, both in critical condition.
According to Conroe Police, the vehicle was southbound on Interstate 45 when it swerved off the mainlanes of the freeway, just past the FM 3083 exit ramp. The vehicle crossed a small ditch, the exit ramp, the feeder, and a curb before striking the concrete base to a highway illumination light.
Montgomery County Precinct One Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack responded to the scene. He pronounced the driver, Andrew Maynard, a 23-year-old, Willis High School 2009 Graduate, dead on the scene and ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport him to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy.
