UPDATE ON EAST HARRIS COUNTY FATAL CRASH

On Monday April 4, 2016, at approximately 5:08 p.m. Jeffrey Curette was riding a 2001 Suzuki motorcycle westbound on St. Charles at a high rate of speed. James Phillips was driving a 2011 Ford pickup southbound on St. Francis. Mr. Phillips stopped at the intersection, he had a yield sign. After verifying the intersection was clear, Mr. Phillips attempted to cross St. Charles. During the crossing Mr. Phillip’s vehicle was struck in the left side behind the rear drivers side door by Mr. Curette and his motorcycle. The force of the collision was great due to the momentum of the motorcycle. Mr. Phillip’s vehicle rotated coming to rest against a road sign. Mr. Curette was wearing a helmet, he was thrown from the motorcycle during the collision and landed in the intersection. Mr. Curette sustained serious injuries and was transported to Memorial Hermann’s Trauma Center by Life Flight. On Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at approximately 1:23 a.m. Mr. Curette died while in the hospital’s care.
