UPDATE ON MAGNOOLIA WEST HIGH THREAT

On September 26, 2018, The Montgomery County Precinct 5 Constables Department and the Magnolia Independent School District worked collaboratively and efficiently to investigate an alleged threat against Magnolia West High School.

Information was received late yesterday evening that a student had made retaliatory threats against the school after receiving disciplinary action for dress code violations. Precinct 5 Deputies immediately responded and went to the home of the suspect identified as Andrew Valle a 17-year-old student of Magnolia West High School. Valle was interviewed along with his parents and after searching the home it was determined that he had no immediate access to any weapons capable of carrying out the threat. Deputies reviewed the case with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and charges were ultimately accepted for a Terroristic Threat which due to the circumstances involved is a third degree felony. Precinct 5 Deputies maintained surveillance on Valle to ensure safety of all students and staff until an arrest warrant was signed by a Judge. Upon receipt of the arrest warrant, Valle was taken into custody at his home without any incident. After speaking with Valle, it was found that this was an isolated incident and did not involve any other students. The investigation remains ongoing as Valle is currently being interviewed and booked into the Montgomery County Jail with a $25,000.00 bond.

The Precinct 5 Constables Department would like to thank the concerned students for speaking up and notifying school administration of the potential threat to allow for an immediate investigation.

Chief Chris Jones comments: “The partnership between the Magnolia Independent School District and the Precinct 5 Constables Department is an example of how local law enforcement and school districts should work together to maintain the highest levels of safety for our community and children both on and off Magnolia ISD campuses.”
