About 12:30 pm two Mustangs were racing southbound on SH 249 near Beltway 8. An SUV driver who apparently did not see the vehicles or misjudged their speed pulled out of a gas station parking lot and was t-boned. The driver of the SUV was killed instantly. The driver of the black Mustang was also killed. Another passenger vehicle that was struck sent the two occupants from that vehicle to the hospital with severe leg injuries. Another person from the SUV may not survive. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said at this time they believe the Mustangs were traveling more than 90 mph. The driver of the white Mustang which was also involved in the crash lost control and landed in the ditch on the opposite side of the roadway. He was uninjured but taken into custody. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office is on the scene assisting in the investigation. SH 249 will remain closed until at least 7pm as the investigation continues.
