US 59 IN LEGGETT BACK OPEN BUT SLOW

All lanes of US 59 are now open for normal traffic. Motorists are encouraged to continue to use caution in this area as hazmat crews continue to clear the scene.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is currently at the scene of a commercial motor vehicle reportedly leaking an unknown substance on US 59 approximately three miles south of Leggett. The northbound and southbound lanes of US 59 are currently closed for traffic until investigators can determine the substance and initiate cleanup efforts. Traffic is being rerouted onto SL 116. Motorist should expect delays and take alternate routes if possible. At this time it is unknown how long the highway will be closed. A hazmat team has been notified to assist in the cleanup efforts. Additional information will be released as it becomes available. No additional information is available at this time.
