Over the Christmas holidays, vandals damaged windows on construction equipment at the East Montgomery County Industrial Park in New Caney. In a separate incident, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office issued a citation for trespassing to a man who allegedly caused damage to property that had been prepared for development there. The property is owned by the East Montgomery County Improvement District.
Just before Christmas, vandals threw chunks of concrete through the windows of five Caterpillar dump trucks owned by Rebel Construction, a company EMCID hired to perform construction services at the property. The vehicles were parked just off of Nichols Road.
On December 26, a Jeep Wrangler had to be towed out of a ditch at the industrial park, when a man and two women in the vehicle went “off-roading”, causing damage to new drainage areas.
EMCID has spent about $4 million in infrastructure and improvements in the new portion of the park, which extends from East Industrial Pkwy to Nichols Rd. along Gene Campbell Rd.
EMCID issued a statement of appreciation for law enforcement’s efforts to find those responsible and assuring neighbors and businesses they would pursue charges against those responsible.
Anyone with information about these crimes should contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
