The Conroe Police Department, a short time ago was able to notify the family of Joseph Madrigal, 22, who just recently relocated to Conroe.
According to Conroe Police Madrigal was westbound on FM 3083 between FM 1484 and Pollock behind another vehicle.
A 2005 Chevrolet pickup was turning east on FM 3083 after stopping for heavy traffic. The vehicle in front of the motorcycle turned right onto Pollock. As this vehicle turned the pickup driven by Steven Garrett, 35 started his turn not seeing the motorcycle behind the turning vehicle resulting in the motorcycle crash.
Madrigal, possibly not seeing Garrett either hit his brakes approximately fifty feet before impacting the front left fender of Garrett’s truck.
Madrigal was not able to be saved by MCHD and was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Trey Spikes. Spikes ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport Madrigal to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy.
Conroe Police have been working this intersection for several weeks as motorists continue to not stop for the stop sign. A portable electronic sign was placed just before the stop sign warning motorists to stop.
Warren Diepraam assisted Conroe Police in the investigation. No charges are being filed at this time . However the investigation is continuing.
FM 3083 was closed for almost 2 hours and opened just after 5 p.m. At that point traffic west on FM 3083 was at a stand still. Conroe Police were also directing traffic at North Frazier and FM 3083 as Frazier was backed up northbound to Loop 336 and North Loop 336 west was backed past Thompson Street.
The Conroe Police Department and Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office plan to enforce the traffic laws in Conroe with special attention to Pollock Road and FM 3083.
Texas Law states you must come to a complete stop before continuing into the intersection.
