VICTIM OF DAYTON FATAL CRASH IDENTIFIED

BAAADBTODayton Police responded to an auto-pedestrian fatal crash on FM 1409 at Private Road 456 Monday night just after 8:30pm. Dayton Police Sgt. John Coleman said first reports indicated a pedestrian was lying in the roadway and attempting to move out of the way of traffic.  They arrived to find George Hathcoat, 17, of Dayton,  deceased. The investigation revealed that Pamela Christina Markham was northbound when she hit Hathcoat. Thinking it was a deer she continued to the next intersectioin and contacted friends to come to the scene. Since she had been drinking she attempted to get one of the friends to take responsibility for the crash. As she and friends and famiy were discussing it , a First Responder from the Westlake Fire Department came to the scene to make sure everyone was ok. THe First Responder informed them that a person and not a deer had been struck and died. Markham then left the scene on foot. As investigators were on the scene she returned and was arrested for accident involving death and driving while intoxicated. Her total bond is $31,500. Markham had a previous arrest in March of this year for public intoxication.
