MURDER CHARGES FILED IN FATAL FIRE
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office confirmed Friday morning that the man found deceased inside his burned home on Feb. 1 was murdered and was positively identified as murder suspect Michael Fred Gloede, 55. An autopsy showed Gloede died from gunshot wounds to the head, according to a statement from the two agencies. No motive was officially released, but revenge is an obvious possibility.

The statement said the two agencies spent the week combing through evidence at the residence located at 1524 West Creek Drive and interviewing witnesses, which culminated in the arrests of two teenagers on Thursday night.

Keith Ryan Randall, whose 19th birthday is tomorrow, was arrested along with a 15-year-old female. Both Conroe ISD students are charged with murder.

As previously noted, Gloede was awaiting trial in the 2006 brutal murder of his son’s girlfriend, Lori Randall who died from injuries suffered at Gloede’s residence where she spent the last days of her life. According to Randall’s obituary, Keith is her son.

Brandon and Fred Gloede both lived at the West Creek Drive address when Randall died. They were arrested on March 31, 2008, charged with first-degree murder and eventually both were released on bond.

Gloede’s son, 30-year-old Michael Brandon Gloede was reindicted last May, then tried and convicted of the crime in July. He is currently in the Montgomery County Jail awaiting transfer to the Texas Department of Corrections.

For more details about Randall’s murder and relationship with the Gloede’s, read the previous article posted on February 1:

NORTHCREST HORSE SEIZURE
Montgomery County Precinct 4 Livestock Officers responded to the 27200 block on Northcrest Circle in the Northcrest Subdivision Wednesday afternoon. In hand was a seizure warrant for fifteen horses, seven dogs, and five cats.

Deputies had been out in the past and discovered the condition of the animals. They also identified three horses that were dead and had been for several months. One of those horses was in a stall.

Shortly after they arrived the SPCA came in and started documenting and loading the animals. A veterinarian with SPCA found two of the fifteen horses were in such bad shape that they may not make it through the night.

The owner of the horses, Kimberly Ann Adams could face several charges of cruelty to animals.

According to neighbors of this community, residents are allowed to keep one horse for every ten acres of land they own. One neighbor said that Adams formerly showed horses on a circuit and they were expensive registered horses.

Due to financial problems, she was unable to keep up with all the animals and had formed a bond with them that she refused to let go of. Deputies say to feed that many horses could cost upward of $2500 a month, even more in the winter when extra calories are needed.

18 WHEELER CRASH
I-45 AT CALVARY
Just after 4 am 911 dispatchers received a call that an 18-wheeler had hit the center wall on I-45 southbound at Calvary and burst into flames. Willis Police, Montgomery County deputies and North Montgomery County Fire Department arrived on the scene to find a truck loaded with basil and organic lettuce lying on the center wall and fully involved in flames. The driver who possibly fell asleep was able to kick out the windshield to escape with a possible broken nose. He was taken to Conroe Regional Hospital. Milstead Heavy Duty and Haz Mat International who were on the scene within minutes were able to push the entire crash over the center median onto the northbound lanes. This allowed southbound lanes to be open for the morning heavy commute.

Northbound lanes will remain closed until possibly at least 8 am as the scene is cleared.

All northbound traffic is being diverted to the Calvary Road exit.

LAWNDALE OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING
One suspect is at the hospital and another has been taken into custody after the Houston Police Department investigated an officer-involved shooting at a gas station in Southeast Houston Friday night.

Police said the shooting occurred at around 9 p.m. at the Valero gas station located on 7129 Lawndale, and said two suspects with ski masks approached the Valero. One suspect went inside with a gun and demanded money from the cash register. Meanwhile, the other suspect was outside as a lookout.

Officer K. Huey –who was off-duty but was hired as security for the Valero location –was sitting in the parking lot when he saw the two suspects approach the store.

Police said Huey got out of his car and move toward the lookout suspect. The suspect alerted the other one inside, who police said they came out and pointed the gun at Huey.

Huey –who police said was in fear for his life and others –discharged his weapon at the suspect, who was shot at the scene. He was taken to Ben Taub and is in critical condition. The officer was not injured.

Police said the other suspect ran inside the store and headed to the back. However, police said he eventually surrendered and was taken into custody without injury.

Huey is assigned to the North Patrol Tactical Division and has 20 years of service. Although local residents said the neighborhood is usually quiet, Huey was hired as a security officer at the Lawndale location due to robberies at various Valero locations.

HOUSTON POLICE IN-CUSTODY DEATH
On Friday, February 5, 2016, at 6:49 PM, Officer J. Elliott and Officer Z. Crowder heard over the radio a Code 1 Assault in Progress call drop at 3525 Lockwood Dr., the Salina Food Mart, and volunteered to take the call.

Upon arrival, officers noticed a large crowd near the entrance to the store and three males attempting to restrain a black male, later identified as Michael Wayne Simmons King.

Officers J. Elliott and Z. Crowder told the three males to let Mr. King go and attempted to place him in handcuffs. Officer Elliott was able to get one hand cuffed, when Mr. King started tensing his body and pulling away from Officer Elliott.

Officer Crowder assisted Officer Elliott in trying to place Mr. King’s hands behind his back, but could not get Mr. King to cooperate. Mr. King was holding a glass crack pipe that was broken on one end in one of his hands. While he was resisting officers’ attempts to restrain him, Officer Crowder was cut on his thumb by the pipe.

Officers were able to safely remove the pipe from Mr. King’s hands soon after. Officer Crowder told Mr. King that he would knee him to gain compliance if Mr. King did not place his hands behind his back, and when he didn’t, Officer Crowder delivered three knee strikes to the abdomen of Mr. King. Mr. King then told officers he would cooperate and officers were able to handcuff Mr. King. Officer Elliott got on his radio and requested HFD to check by and evaluate Mr. King.

After being evaluated and cleared by HFD, Officer Elliott and Crowder walked Mr. King to their patrol vehicle and placed him in the back seat, seat belting him in. Officer Crowder contacted the District Attorney’s office and ADA Otto accepted PCS charges on Mr. King after a crack pipe was discovered in his hand.

Officer Elliott drove the patrol vehicle a block south to complete the booking blotter and jail initialization process and saw that Mr. King was sitting up straight in the back seat. Officers drove to Central Jail and when they got out of the vehicle to remove Mr. King, Officer Elliott noticed that Mr. King had his head looking down and was unresponsive and drooling.

Officer Elliott attempted to awaken Mr. King and felt for a pulse, finding none. Officer Crowder removed the handcuffs and began to administer CPR while Officer Elliott ran to get medical attention from the jail and also radioed for HFD. HFD arrived at Central Jail and took over CPR and transported Mr. King to St. Joseph’s Hospital. Officer Elliott and Officer Crowder followed the ambulance to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:55 p.m. by Dr. Alagarsamy.

Mr. King has a criminal history spanning from 1992 to 2011 and is a registered sex offender. His criminal charges include Stalking, Indecency with a child, Assault Family Member/Impeding Breath, and Failure to register as a sex offender. A search of his criminal history shows that he has been in the custody of TDCJ Huntsville. Mr. King’s status as a known mental health consumer within HPD records is still pending.

WEST COUNTY COVID VACCINE EVENT
The rain and cold moved in Friday morning as medics with Montgomery County Hospital District gathered to vaccinate some 125 clients of the Meals on Wheels Program and Montgomery County Precinct 2 Commissioner Riley and the County Judges Office. The West Montgomery County Community Center which is used for distributing food for the clients of Montgomery County Food Bank made the perfect spot for the drive-through event. With a partnership between Lone Star Community Health and Wheels on Meals, the 125 clients were pre-registered for the event. The long line stretching down Friendship Drive just before 10 am was down to single vehicles by 11:30 am. Montgomery County Precinct 5 Constable Chris Jones provided security and traffic control for the event. After a person was vaccinated they were moved to the parking area for 15-minutes to be observed for any allergic reactions. Jason Milsaps said Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management maintains the county-wide list. Citizens can go to the website www.mctx.org. There you can get on the master list. This list is shared with all the vaccine providers which include Lone Star or the Public Health District. You will be notified and only need to register one time. Currently, the list is long and the supply is low. The list is prioritized from the oldest first down to the ones who qualify including first responders and health care workers. Montgomery County does not receive the vaccine from the State as it goes directly to the providers. Second shots will begin next week and the persons who already received the first round were registered and will be notified of the date and time directly from the provider who administered the first vaccine. The county has mostly been working with the Moderna vaccine where the hospitals are using mostly the Pfizer vaccine due to the need to keep it in much lower temperatures. The Johnson and Johnson vaccine is expected to soon be approved by the FDA which will make it much easier for Montgomery County due to the logistics since only one dose is required. Also in the County today Hermann Hospital and Conroe ISD set up a drive-thru at the Woodforest Stadium. It is expected that close to 7000 shots will be given between Friday and Saturday. St Lukes was expected to do close to 1000 shots on Friday. People eligible for the vaccine, in Phase 1A or 1B, can sign up here:click here . If you are 65 years of age or older and do not have internet access, you can join the vaccine waitlist by calling 936-522-4570, Monday, Feb. 8th from 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Eligible people on the waitlist will be contacted to schedule an appointment when vaccines are available through participating providers. Individual hospitals, physicians’ offices and pharmacies may also have vaccines available to eligible populations. Please check their websites for additional information. You can find a list of providers and additional information on the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) website here:click here
