WANTED FOR SHOOTING AT MOTHER AND CHILD

On Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at approximately 12:15 PM, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division were dispatched to FM 1314 and Old Houston Road, in Porter, Texas, in reference to a female who reported being shot at as she drove down the road on FM 1314.

Upon Deputies arrival, it was reported that a 24-year-old mother, with her 3-year-old son in the back seat, were traveling north on FM 1314. She advised a black Chevy Tahoe started following her vehicle very closely. The woman reported she changed lanes several times, but the Tahoe kept following extremely close to the rear of her vehicle. The female driver pulled into the center turn lane and stopped, as did the Tahoe that was following. As the female driver started to accelerate and turn into the left lane, the Tahoe sped pass her on the right of her vehicle. As the vehicle drove by, the driver pointed a gun at her discharging it three times. Two of the shots hit her vehicle, one in the rear door in close proximity to her son and the other in the rear window. As she was behind the suspect vehicle and contacting, “911”, for assistance, a male emerged from the sunroof of the suspect vehicle and fired five more rounds from a handgun at the female driver’s vehicle. The female driver pulled off the roadway as the suspect vehicle continued northbound on FM 1314. The female awaited law enforcement arrival at that location.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Units responded to the location but were unable to locate the actors. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Units responded to the location to conduct an investigation.

As a result of the investigation conducted by Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives, suspects involved in the above listed shooting were identified. Investigators were able to determine probable cause for arrest and search warrants for the above listed shooting. On Wednesday, February 24, 2016, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives and representatives of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office SWAT executed a search warrant in the 18800 block of Woodridge Drive, in Porter, Texas. Detectives were searching for two suspects, Carlos Daniel Vera-Garcia, (date of birth 08/09/1998), and a juvenile for the above listed shooting, as well as several other aggravated assaults they were suspects in over the last several weeks, including another shooting incident near Caney Creek High School. The juvenile suspect was located and detained at the warrant service location, but Carlos Daniel Vera-Garcia remains at large.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information on the location of Carlos Daniel Vera-Garcia to call the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit at (936) 760-5876 or Montgomery County Crime Stoppers.
