Wednesday morning Splendora Police spotted a suspicious vehicle at the Chevron at FM 2090 and US 59. As the passenger got out of the vehicle and saw the patrol car he got back in and he and the driver started out of the parking lot. As the patrol unit approached them they went back into the Chevron parking lot and parked in a handicap parking space. As the officer approached them he saw the passenger put something under the driver’s seat. As backup arrived both males were detained. The passenger had 1 gram of meth on his person. However, a search of the reported stolen car yielded 30 more grams under the driver’s seat which the passenger tried to convince police it was the drivers. The driver claimed the vehicle was his and owned by him. He was able to produce a title and bill of sale. Still not convinced Splendora Police contacted Montgomery County Auto Theft Detectives who determined the documents were fake and the vehicle was in fact stolen. Charles Ray Vestal, 42, of 11059 Browder Traylor in Conroe was arrested on a charge of driving with license suspended with a previous conviction and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. His bonds total $1250. Roland David Bale II, 47, of 110 Noble View Ct. in Magnolia was charged with manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $50,000.
