WOMAN CHARGED IN FRIDAY NIGHT KINGWOOD OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING

Houston police are investigating an incident in which an HPD officer discharged his duty weapon at an armed suspect at 2086 Shadow Rock Drive about 9:55 p.m. last Friday (June 11).
The suspect, Brittney Jane Jones, 27, was not injured.  She is charged with aggravated assault of a police officer in the 174th State District Court.  Officer C. Thompson-Martin, who discharged his duty weapon, was not injured in the incident.  Officer Thompson-Martin was sworn in as an officer in March 2019 and is assigned to the Kingwood Patrol Division.  HPD Special Investigations Unit Sergeant M. Burroughs and Detectives M. Millington and J. Young reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a disturbance at the above address and made contact with Jones, who displayed a weapon and pointed it at officers.  Fearing for his life, Officer Thompson-Martin discharged his duty weapon at Jones.  She was not struck.  Jones then retreated back inside the residence and later surrendered without further incident.  Jones was treated by Houston Fire Department paramedics for minor injuries, possibly sustained by glass debris.
As is customary in HPD officer-involved shooting incidents in the Houston city limits, this case is being investigated by the HPD Special Investigations Unit and the Internal Affairs Division.
