The latest pedestrian to be struck and killed trying to cross Interstate 45 in Conroe was positively identified as 33-year-old Trista Lynn Dunaway.

Another pedestrian was killed Monday night while trying to cross Interstate 45 in Conroe. The location and scenario have become all-too familiar to the Conroe Police Department in recent years.
The accident occurred around 7:45 p.m. when a woman in her thirties, whose name was not released as of this writing, walked onto the southbound main lanes of I-45 between FM 2854 and Gladstell St.

CPD Sgt. Jon Buckholtz said the victim was struck by several vehicles and a chain reaction was caused when other vehicles tried to avoid striking the first vehicles. One result was a major incident involving two commercial vehicles.
Several adults and several juveniles were transported to local hospitals in good condition, Buckholtz said.
The veteran sergeant and others on the scene were probably having déjà vu and he acknowledged that there have been “quite a few pedestrian fatalities” in the 10 blocks of interstate between FM 2854 and Gladstell St.
Two of those occurred in 2006 and two more in 2007, in four separate incidents
