WOODLANDS OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING

PRESS RLEASE

Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at approximately 8:40 PM, Patrol Deputies with the
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Police Officers from the Shenandoah Police
Department responded to the Raising Canes restaurant, in the 1500 block of Research Forest
Drive, in Shenandoah, Texas.
An off duty Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was working security at the location
when a male entered the location brandishing a handgun. The male suspect was attempting to
rob the location and was confronted by the deputy. The armed suspect refused to comply with
the deputies instructions when attempting to un-arm the suspect. The deputy discharged his
sidearm attempting to neutralize the threat posed by the armed suspect. The suspect was shot
and later pronounced deceased at the location. Two patrons at the restaurant were injured during
the robbery. They were transported to a local hospital with what is described as non-life
threatening injuries.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crime Detectives, Crime Scene Investigators, Texas
Rangers, representatives from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, and
investigators from the Shenandoah Police Department arrived on scene. The investigation is
ongoing at this time. The deceased suspect has not been identified at this time. The body of the
deceased has been transported to the Montgomery County Forensic Center.
