Just after 3p.m. Sunday afternoon the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was notified a shooting incident at a residence on Fawn Lane in Porter. Porter Fire Department and MCHD were also dispatched.
When they arrived they discovered Ayden Hendrix,10, of Humble deceased with a gunshot wound to the head. Ayden’s father and 15 year old brother were visiting friends at the location. Ayden was alone in the home when family and friends heard a gunshot. When they investigated they found Ayden on the floor of the living area with a gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators with the Montgomery County Major Crimes Unit believe that the victim may have been playing with a pistol that was kept in the residence for home security and dropped the gun causing the gun to discharge.
Judge Metts ordered the victim’s body taken to Dallas County for an autopsy. No criminal charges have been filed but when the investigation is completed it will forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
