11 YEAR OLD NEAR DROWNING IN SPLENDORA

8:15 P.M.-At approximately 5:30 Sunday evening MCHD along with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Splendora Fire Department  were dispatched to a drowning on Lake Road at North Lake in Splendora.

The first units on the scene reported the 11-year-old female was out of the water but not breathing. Life Flight 4 was requested from Tomball and within the eighteen minutes it took for them to arrive the child was crying but still having some difficulty breathing. She was flown to Hermann Hospital in Houston where she is listed in critical condition.

According to officials on the scene the family was swimming in a stock pond on their property. Two other children were with the girls parents also at the water. The parents turned away for just a moment to attend to the other children. When they looked back the 11-year-old had slipped under the water. The girls father immediately retrieved her from the water and placed her on dry land.

Montgomery County was assisted by Splendora and Patton Village police.
