The driver of the 18-wheeler police arrested after they say he caused a multiple fatality crash on SH 105 Friday morning is believed to have been intoxicated at the time, and it was far from his first time behind bars.
Chad Fletcher, 38, of Woodville is charged with three counts of Intoxication Manslaughter with Vehicle, and one count of Injury to child/elderly/disabled.
Records show on June 10, 2015, the 6-foot 4-inch, 300 pound Fletcher pleaded guilty to third-degree felony assault of family / household member by impeding breath or circulation. The case played out in a Chambers County courtroom, where he was sentenced to three years’ probation plus fine and court costs. He also has multiple arrests and convictions for marijuana possession, with the most recent conviction in 2010. Additionally, he was arrested for driving while license invalid in 2003, but not enough information was immediately available to know why his license was invalid at that time.
Fletcher’s last public entry on his Facebook page is a hand engulfed in flames, extending the middle finger. A prior post is simply a sign that says “Proud to be a Problem”.
