The driver of the 18-wheeler police arrested after they say he caused a multiple fatality crash on SH 105 Friday morning is believed to have been intoxicated at the time, and it was far from his first time behind bars.

Chad Fletcher, 38, of Woodville is charged with three counts of Intoxication Manslaughter with Vehicle, and one count of Injury to child/elderly/disabled.

Records show on June 10, 2015, the 6-foot 4-inch, 300 pound Fletcher pleaded guilty to third-degree felony assault of family / household member by impeding breath or circulation. The case played out in a Chambers County courtroom, where he was sentenced to three years’ probation plus fine and court costs. He also has multiple arrests and convictions for marijuana possession, with the most recent conviction in 2010. Additionally, he was arrested for driving while license invalid in 2003, but not enough information was immediately available to know why his license was invalid at that time.

Fletcher’s last public entry on his Facebook page is a hand engulfed in flames, extending the middle finger. A prior post is simply a sign that says “Proud to be a Problem”.

    • It is called the “good ole boy network”. You know, the same broken system that let a rich boy claim “affluenza”, in order to walk away from killing and injuring many. The same broken system that allowed a brownbagger to walk after a person was killed in a hit and run almost in front of my house; no jail. It is all about who you know and how deep are your pockets. We need criminal justice reform that stops allowing this to continue. We need to elect leadership that will DO something about it and stop kicking the can down the road. As a responsible citizen it angers and outrages me that this happened. Now people have list their lives again because of a corrupt system that keeps this going. It is not going to end as long as we have the same failed leadership.

  1. I have been a fan of the Montgomery County Police Reporter since day one – absolutely the most disturbing story I have ever seen so far. This animal is an example of pure evil. How in the world can anyone brag about being “proud to be a problem”? Again, pure evil.

  2. OMG….he made a choice to drink and drive. Bye bye Felicia. “Proud to be a problem” what a piss poor sorry excuse of a pos you are. Stand up and accept responsibility for your sorry actions. Prayers for the families of the victims.

  3. Having lost my son and daughter in law to a drunk driver just less than a year ago, my heart and prayers go out to the families of those lost. If this man was indeed driving while impaired, no punishment is sufficient to repay the pain and devastation he has caused. The completely preventable nature of such a crime makes it even more reprehensible to those of us who have buried our children.
Deaths caused by drunk drivers are not accidents. No one accidentally consumes alcohol and/or drugs and gets behind the wheel, it is a concious decision.
