18-WHEELER CRASH ON I-45

About 7 am a southbound 18-wheeler carrying U.S. Mail left the roadway on I-45 just north of the Montgomery County line. The truck went between the construction barricades and slammed into a light tower and then a 25,000-pound ground compactor pushing it at least 20-feet. The driver of the truck was partially ejected. He was transported to Conroe Regional Hospital in stable condition with a gash to the head and a broken arm. What amazed many was there was a bible on top of the engine after the crash. Pete Johnson Heavy Duty out of Huntsville spent over 3 hours fighting weather and mud to free the truck and remove it from the scene. There were no other injuries. Trooper Harris with DPS investigated the crash.
