An 18-year-old male died in a one-vehicle automobile crash on SH 242 near Glen Eagle Drive early Monday. His death marked the second in three days of a South Montgomery County teen.

The deceased passenger was identified as Cameron Justin Rea, 18. Public Data lists Rea’s address on Glen Eagle Drive, just around the corner from where he died.

The driver of the Pontiac sedan, who survived, was identified Scott Michael Hickey, 19, of Conroe.

Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Smith said he was notified of the crash around 3 a.m. and arrived just after 4 a.m. Several Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputies held the scene until Smith was able to respond.

“There are no skid marks on the roadway,” Smith said. “All it shows is that for some unknown reason they veered off at the intersection of 242 and Glen Eagle Drive and struck the traffic pole. Alcohol does appear to be a factor, according to Sgt. Terry Barnhill.”

They were eastbound on SH 242 at the time. Smith said there was no indication the vehicle ran off the road at any point prior to the crash and the vehicle did not appear to be defective, except for the airbags’ failure to deploy. Neither the driver nor the front seat passenger was wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, he said.

Hickey was transported by ground ambulance to Hermann Memorial Hospital in The Woodlands in stable condition with serious injuries. Rea, was initially flown by air ambulance toward the medical center in Houston, but the helicopter had to change routes and return to Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands as Rea’s condition worsened. He was pronounced dead at 4:40 a.m., Smith said.

Rea’s page on the popular social networking website, Myspace.com, says he was a parent, and shows photos of him with a female infant. The page also states he was employed by a restaurant, but does not specify which one.

Kody Soeder, 16, of The Woodlands died in a one-vehicle crash on Cochran’s Crossing before dawn on Saturday.
