19 POUNDS OF COCAINE SEIZED IN I-69 TRAFFIC STOP

On Thursday, May 8, 2025, the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit initiated a traffic stop on a white 2024 Volkswagen Jetta on US-59 Northbound in Cleveland, Liberty County, Texas, for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, deputies believed the operator identified as 51-year-old Byron Donsha Adams of Houston was involved in criminal activity and requested consent to search his vehicle. Adams declined the deputy’s request, and a narcotic-trained K9 was deployed on the vehicle. Due to the positive response to narcotics inside the vehicle from the K9, deputies conducted a probable cause search on the vehicle. Inside the trunk, deputies located two cloth sacks that contained multiple kilos of suspected cocaine. A total of seven kilos was recovered, weighing approximately 19 pounds. Adams was arrested and transported to the Liberty County Jail and charged with the Manufacture/Delivery Controlled Substance PG1 over 400g (Felony 1).
