3 Year old child critically burned in outdoor burning accident

A small child was critically burned Saturday afternoon when she was standing near an outdoor burn pile at her home on Cheryl Street near Pinehurst. She suffered burns over approximately 75% of her body and is in critical condition in the UTMB Burn Center in Galveston. She was initially taken by family members to Tomball Regional Medical Center, then flown to Galveston by Life Flight.

Initial reports indicate that old gasoline was disposed of on the fire shortly before the accident, but the investigation is ongoing at this time.

Many may think that old or weathered gasoline is less likely to ignite and thus less dangerous, but it is just the opposite, as weathered gasoline can be even more volatile, especially when poured near an open flame.
