Conroe, Texas August 1, 2011 – After approximately two hours of deliberation, a jury in the 9th District Court sentenced Francisco Salazar to 40 years in prison for the Continuous Sexual Abuse of his step daughter over a three year period. Visiting Judge Jerry Sandel imposed the sentence Friday evening. The defendant is not eligible for parole under this statute and will serve the entire 40 year sentence.

The Defendant was accused of continuous sexual assault of a child, indecency with a child, and sexual assault of a child, for allegations involving sexual assault of his step-daughter from the ages of 12-15. Nancy Hebert, Chief of the Child Abuse division, presented the victims testimony including graphic descriptions of multiple sex acts perpetrated over the three year period. The Continuous Sexual Abuse statute, enacted in the last legislative session, makes committing two or more sexual acts against a child over a period of time that exceeds 30 days punishable by at least 25 years in prison.

“Knowing that offenders such as Mr. Salazar will not be eligible for parole is extremely beneficial to the healthy recovery of victims such as the young girl in this case,” stated District Attorney Brett Ligon. “Mr. Salazar will have 40 long years away from society while his victim rests peacefully knowing that she is safe. Our office will continue to prosecute predators under this statute in every case that is appropriate.”
