A major accident shut down FM 1485 at Dry Creek road for over an hour Friday morning.
According to DPS Quentin Thompson of Conroe was southbound on FM1485 in his 2000 Dodge pickup. As he approached the intersection of Dry Creek a 2004 Honda Civic driven by Gilberto Gamboa of New Caney attempted to turn left in front of Thompson and head north. The impact spun both vehicles into the ditch.
New Caney Fire Department was dispatched to the scene just after 8 am.
On their arrival and the first medics’ arrival it was determined they had multiple patients. Of those 2 were critical and a 3-year-old grandson of Gamboa Was slightly injured.
Fire officials immediately called for two helicopters and an additional two ambulances.
They then went to work cutting Gamboa and his wife Esperanza Gamboza out of the Honda. After a difficult extrication, The child and his mother were loaded on Lifeflight. Gilberto Gamboa was stabilized and flown by PHI AirMedical. All 3 went to Hermann Hospital in the Medical Center. The child was stable, his grandparents critical.
MCHD transported Thompson to Herman Woodlands with a possible leg fracture.
