4700 marijuana plants cut

On Thursday July 26th, 2012, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit served a narcotics search warrant on a residence and several acres of heavily wooded property that adjoined the residence in Tyler County, Texas on FM 1013.

During an undercover investigation the SIU learned about an outdoor marijuana growing operation. Working with the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office 4700 marijuana plants was seized.

The plants were found in heavy brush and trees and the eradication of the plants was difficult. The Texas Forest Service assisted with a bulldozers to create trails into the grow areas.

The plants were irrigated by a series of hoses and pumps that were powered by portable generators and the plants were tended by suspected illegal aliens that lived in tents nearby.

Two suspects were arrested and more are expected. Numerous state and federal agencies assisted.
