6-YEAR-OLD CRITICAL AFTER BEING STRUCK BY MOTORCYCLE

Just before 8 p.m., Porter Fire Department responded to a reported house fire in the 19200 block of Timberland Blvd. A Medic arrived on the scene and determined it was not a house fire, but an illegal burn. As units were about to clear out, a Montgomery County Deputy spotted a dirt bike, driven by a teen, traveling at a high rate of speed. The bike was headed west on Timberland Blvd. As the deputy was about to turn around, the motorcycle struck a 6-year-old child who came out of a neighbor’s driveway into the street.

SADDLE CREEK

The 15-year-old motorcycle driver saw the child and tried to lay down the motorcycle. The momentum, however, caused him to hit the child and continue approximately 20 feet. The 6-year-old was transported to Texas Children’s Hospital at the Texas Medical Center in critical condition.

The teen suffered injuries, including a possible broken shoulder. Because the motorcyclist was a juvenile, the Montgomery County Attorney was contacted in regard to possible criminal charges, as opposed to the District Attorney’s Office.

DPS investigated the crash. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the investigation.
