Around 10:30 p.m. Friday, Humble Police initiated a pursuit when a pair of theft suspects fled from the Humble Walmart on FM 1960 East. The woman fled in a Chevrolet Forte sedan with a man in the passenger seat. The chase continued west on FM 1960 from Humble to I-45.
The pursuit then turned north on I-45, entering Montgomery County and passing through Shenandoah, where that City’s Police joined in to assist as the pursuit continued north into Conroe. At FM 3083, on the north side of Conroe, the vehicle abruptly exited. The pursuit continued through Conroe, as a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter joined the effort. By then, multiple agencies from Harris and Montgomery County had become involved, but the vehicle continued to flee.
Heading toward East Montgomery County on FM 3083, the vehicle began turning on many roads within the Conroe/Grangerland oil fields, showing they were very familiar with the area, and knowing it was unlikely most of those pursuing them had the same knowledge, since the pursuit was initiated in Harris County.
The suspects crisscrossed FM 3083 and continued through the winding roads before crossing FM 3083 and continuing through back roads including Massey, Coon Hollow, Waukegan, and Hill. The driver then turned onto FM 1485 and headed south, crossing FM 2090 at Grangerland at a speed of just over 100 miles per hour. and continued to FM 3083. The vehicle sped through the Grangerland area and crossed Hwy 242.
At FM 1485, the driver attempted a right turn onto Oak Grove Lane, but failed to negotiate the turn, resulting in a crash. Thankfully, no innocent people were struck.
Neither suspect was injured but both were transported by Montgomery County Hospital District medics to Memorial Hermann Northeast for evaluation. In addition to the new, instant charges, the woman had an open warrant for a parole violation (sometimes referred to as a “blue warrant”). The man riding in the passenger seat had open felony warrants too.
The pursuit lasted approximately one hour and ended 60 miles from where it began.
