A 7-year-old girl at the center of an Amber Alert has been safely recovered in Tarkington. Hazel Hodge Lassiter was found overnight at a home on CR 2250, according to Capt. David Meyers with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies, following leads from San Jacinto County, located Hazel after LCSO Sgt. Travis Pierce spoke with a man who directed him to the home. Inside, Hazel’s mother, Ashley Lassiter, identified herself, and the child was found asleep in a bed.
The Amber Alert was issued Friday night after CPS, citing concerns for Hazel’s safety, sought law enforcement’s help to locate her. Sheriff Greg Capers said CPS has been investigating Hazel’s case since September and had a court order to take custody.
