A Muddy Mistake in Shenandoah

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX- On Sunday, May 5, Shenandoah Police Officers responded to a welfare check, which is when someone calls dispatch out of concern for someone’s wellbeing. Two people were reportedly sleeping outside of a closed business on Six Pines Drive.

SPD Officers found more than just a couple of people sleeping. The woman, Serenity Jones, had multiple open felony warrants, so the welfare check ultimately became an investigation into the circumstances that placed the pair outside of the business. Investigators say Jones and her accomplice, Brett Forrester, burglarized a construction site, but as they tried to leave, the stolen truck they were using became stuck in mud.

When the pair failed to dislodge the stolen truck from the mud, police say they abandoned it, construction site loot and all. After all that, they apparently decided they needed to get some sleep, which is what they were allegedly doing outside of a business when someone saw them and was concerned enough to contact law enforcement.

Serenity Kay Jones and Brett Wayne Forrester, both of Montgomery, are charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, with additional charges pending.
