HARRIS COUNTY, TX– A woman is facing serious charges after crashing her vehicle with two children inside while allegedly driving under the influence.
On Monday, Deputies with Pct. 4 Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to a crash in the 6900 block of FM 2920, where a vehicle had collided with a light pole. Upon arrival, Deputies identified the driver as Jennifer Hopson, who allegedly exhibited multiple signs of intoxication.
Inside the vehicle were Hopson’s two children, raising immediate concern for their safety. Due to her level of impairment, Hopson was unable to complete Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. A warrant was obtained for a blood specimen, which was subsequently executed.
Child Protective Services was contacted and briefed on the situation. The children were released to a guardian who responded to the scene.
“Jennifer Hopson was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Under 15 Years of Age,” Constable Mark Herman said. “Her bond was set at $7,500.00 out of the 185th District Court.”
No injuries were reported from the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
