Adrian Peterson appeared in court Wednesday morning on the injury to a child charge lodged against him.
As Peterson entered the courthouse his driver decided it was ok to park his vehicle in the moving lane of traffic and enter the courthouse. As only on lane of traffic was able to pass, traffic started to back up over the railroad tracks. That is when a Conroe Police Officer who is monitors parking in Conroe tracked him down in the courthouse and got the vehicle removed.
Peterson did not enter a plea, however his attorney Rusty Hardin stated his client would not plead guilty to the charge a tentative trial date of December 1 was set. Thi9s after Judge Case’s comments about attorneys in the case being “media whores”. Even though Case apologized a November 4 hearing date was scheduled whether to move the case to another court.
Defense attorney Rusty Hardin said he didn’t mind Case’s comment because he’s “been called worse.” But he said he wants to try the case as quickly as possible since Peterson can’t play in the NFL while the charge is pending. Peterson continues to receive his salary as this continues.
“The only way to get this solved is to have a quick and speedy trial,” Hardin said afterward.
“Adrian has never hidden from what happened,” Hardin said in the statement. “He has cooperated fully with authorities and voluntarily testified before the grand jury for several hours.
“Adrian will address the charges with the same respect and responsiveness he has brought to this inquiry from its beginning. It is important to remember that Adrian never intended to harm his son and deeply regrets the unintentional injury.”
Peterson left the courthouse, signing some autographs and quickly got into his SUV with his wife and his mother,
