ANGEL TREE LIGHTING FOR FAMILIES OF VICTIMS OF VIOLENT CRIMES

Thursday night many families of victims of violent crimes gathered at the Montgomery County Courthouse.  Many of the families were ones who had lost a loved one over the past few years. Margaret Smith lost her daughter Meghann Smith to a drunk driver on SH 105 West early on the morning of October 26, 2008. As she was changing a tire a intoxicated female struck and killed her.

Jean Landrum lost her Adam Landrum  to an intoxicated driver in October of 2008. Adam was riding his motorcycle north on Interstate 45 feeder just north of Rayford Road when he was struck by Miguel Laynes Rojas. Rojas was charged with intoxication manslaughter. At the time Landrum was still dealing with the April 16, 2008 death of her 17-year-old daughter, Jaclyn Landrum. The Oak Ridge High School junior was killed when her vehicle crashed into the rear axles of an 18-wheeler that was turning into a driveway on the northbound I-45 feeder road, south of FM 1488.
