Just after 10 am New Caney Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at FM 1485 near Firetower Road. This has been the location of multiple serious accidents including a fatality since April.
The rain had just started falling when a white 2007 van driven by Jose Troches hydroplaned as he was driving north on FM 1485. He then spun into the path of Marcus Berrios who was southbound in his pickup. Berrios, unable to avoid the collision hit the rear of the van entrapping him. Firefighters worked almost fifteen minutes to free him. He was transported i stable condition. The driver of the van was uninjured.
FM 1485 remained closed for almost forty-five minutes as the scene was investigated by DPS.
