ARREST MADE IN SUNDAY NIGHT SHOOTING

A Huntsville woman is recovering after she was shot twice late Sunday night.

A Walker County man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that sent one woman to the hospital.

That woman was inside of a car with other people in the Huntsville area when bullets started flying.

Lieutenant Jim Barnes with the Huntsville Police Departments says it all started about 10:30 Sunday night.

Police say the 33-year-old victim was hit twice, once in each leg. She was transported by Life-Flight to Memorial Hermann in Houston where she underwent surgery. Her condition is not expected to be life-threatening.

31-year-old Ira James Baldwin is being held in the Walker County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

He was arrested around 6 a.m. Monday at the Cedarwood Apartments in the 2000 block of Avenue H in Huntsville near the campus of Sam Houston State University.

Huntsville Police says he’s accused of opening fire in the 800 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard (or Avenue F) in Huntsville.

Despite several shots being fired into the car, no one else was hurt.

Huntsville police say they are still trying to figure out a motive. There are a lot of witnesses to this crime, and the investigation is ongoing.
