Just before 8:00 pm, MCHD and Porter fire were dispatched to a reported auto-pedestrian crash on the new section of SH 99 near Loop 494. Units arrived on the scene to find a male non-responsive in the eastbound lanes of the roadway. Medics attempted CPR but were not successful. The male was pronounced deceased on the scene. Early indications were the male had gotten off a piece of construction equipment and ran north across the eastbound lane when another construction worker who was driving his personal vehicle and heading home struck the worker. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. They are being assisted by DPS.
