Just before 1:30 am, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a call for a welfare check on a black male with dreadlocks on an I-69 feeder near FM 1314. Within minutes a second call came in that a male had been struck on the I-69 southbound feeder across from the Porter Walmart, and then several other calls. Porter Fire and MCHD responded to the scene. They found the earlier described male deceased in the roadway. DPS Troopers investigated the crash and determined the male had been walking in the unlit roadway wearing dark clothes. A male southbound in a Toyota Corolla struck the male and ejected him over his vehicle into the middle lane of the feeder. A female driving a Honda Odyssey, not seeing the male due to the darkness and heavy rain then struck the male on the feeder. The deceased male was transported by Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy. and to be identified as he had no identification on him. Melvins Wrecker removed the Toyota from the scene. The Honda was not damaged.
