auto theft moves in after house fire

About 3 am Thursday morning Magnolia Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 41000 block of South Buckhorn off FM 1486 in far west Montgomery County. Multiple calls came in reporting explosions and multiple vehicles burning.

Fire units arrived a short time later to find a wood frame house totally involved. In addition several vehicles were burning. Additional tankers were called in to assist.

Thursday the Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene to start their investigation of the cause. As of late afternoon they were still investigating.

The Montgomery County Auto Theft Task Force was notified and responded to the scene due to the large number of vehicles scattered across the property. After spending most of the day they recovered one 32 foot goose neck trailer, one 4-wheeler that was reported stolen almost 10 years ago. That four wheeler also suffered fire damage. A trailer was found to have an altered VIN number and another with license plates that did not belong. Those were seized.

The investigation is continuing.

The male resident of the home suffered some minor facial burns.
