FEBUARY 12, 2011 STORY BELOW

About 11:45 a.m. this morning a lone white male walked into the Compass Bank at Shadow Bend and Research Forest. He then robbed the bank and fled in a black two-door Pontiac Grand Am driving east on Research Forest.

Deputies in the area spotted the vehicle at Grogans Mill  and Research and a pursuit started. The vehicle dodged in and out of traffic and then went eastbound in the westbound lanes of Research Forest.

A deputy enroute to the scene was westbound in the 1400 block of Research Forest at Six Pines when the suspect vehicle came at him. The Deputy was able to take the suspect vehicle out using his patrol car.

The only injuries were to one of the deputies who slightly cut his hand on the suspects window glass in an attempt to get him out.

The suspect was taken into custody. A mask was also recovered out of the vehicle.

Westbound Research Forest was closed for almost two hours as detectives investigated the scene. Traffic was diverted through a bank parking lot.
