Just after 3 p.m. Friday Tarrell Donald Nowlin, 40, or Porter walked into the Community Bank in the 24900 block of FM 2100 in Huffman. There he presented tellers with a propane tank which he stated was a bomb. Nowlin then fled the bank with an unknown amount of money and unknown to him a tracking device.
After a short pursuit Nowlin was taken into custody where he remains in jail on a $75,000 bond.
Law enforcement officials are also looking at Nowlin as a possible suspect in two Humble area bank robberies since the beginning of December. One was on December 20, 2011 when the Citibank on 1960 Bypass was robbed and then on December 29, when Chase Bank at 10011 FM 1960 West Bypass was robbed. On both those instances a package was left behind which the robber presented as a bomb. Those devices were also fake.
With the Citibank robbery the reported bomb was wrapped in Christmas paper. The Humble Police Bomb Squad responded to the scene also. The robber was deemed the “Holiday Hoaxster” after this robbery.
