There will be a benefit concert Sunday, July 28 from 3-10 PM at Discovery Green next to the George R. Brown Convention Center in Downtown Houston. The four firefighters most seriously injured from the tragic May 31 fire will be the beneficiaries (Capts. Dowling & Livesay, FFs Yarbrough, and Santos). Tickets may be obtained at www.firehelpingfire.org and are $20 each before the event. Kids 12 and under are free.
These four injured members most need financial help as a result of the fire. As has been reported in the news, the four HFD members killed were all single, leaving no dependents. Thus, the greatest financial burden now is with the four firefighters severely injured in the blaze and their families.
Also, I have been advised of a benefit specific to Robert Yarbrough to be held at the Kingwood Town Center on the following Saturday, Aug. 3, from 3-9 PM. I know no particulars however. I presume there will be donations accepted on site.
