“Bicycle Bandit” Now Suspected in at Least Five Area Bank Robberies

The FBI Bank Robbery Task Force needs your help in identifying a man now suspected of robbing at least five Houston area banks. The latest occurred at the Sterling and J.P. Morgan Chase banks located at 15000 Northwest Highway and 7060 Highway 6 North in Houston Texas, this morning.

At approximately 10:15 a.m., the man entered the Sterling bank and gave a threatening demand note to one of the tellers. While passing the note, the robber kept his hand on his waistband as if he were reaching for or possibly concealing a weapon. The teller provided him with some cash. He fled the bank on foot in an unknown direction. No getaway vehicle was observed. No one was physically hurt. At approximately 9:05 a.m., the same man is suspected of robbing the Sterling bank in the same manner. However, for reasons unknown, he left the bank before he received any money.

The “Bicycle Bandit” is described as a black male, 37-42, approximately 5’9”-6’0” tall, with a slim build and a medium brown complexion. During the Sterling robbery, he wore a blue and white collared shirt, blue jeans and a black ball cap. During the Chase robbery, he wore a black tee-shirt, blue jeans, black ball cap and sunglasses.

Crime Stoppers of Houston is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the charging and arrest of this robber, or any felony suspect. If you have information about this crime, please call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
