Just after 2am Sunday morning a BMW was driving at a high rate of speed down Milam in downtown Houston approaching the entrance to Spur 527 when the vehicle slammed into the bridge support. The driver and one of his passengers jumped out and fled into the night. Behind they left two friends. One of those friends is at Ben Taub Hospital fighting for his life. The other passenger is in stable condition. The driver faces failure to stop and render charges when he is located. Those charges could be upgraded if one of the passengers does not survive. Firefighters worked for an extensive time to free the victims. BMW has more steel in it than most vehicles and puts rescue tools to the test.
