Last Sunday, just after 6 a.m., residents around Willis Waukegan Road at Black Buck noticed a vehicle parked in a nearby ditch. They assumed it was simply broken down and didn’t see a need to notify law enforcement. However, a homeowner walked down his driveway a little past 9 a.m. and saw someone inside the vehicle. He called the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Units from District 1 responded along with Montgomery County Hospital District and North Montgomery County Fire Department. Upon arrival, they found a deceased male in his late twenties who had been shot at least once.
For the five hours following, Montgomery County Detectives covered the vehicle and investigated the area and body. It was initially thought to be a suicide, but is now being investigated as a homicide.
Several investigators with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office including First Assistant Phil Grant also responded to assist in the investigation.
Montgomery County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack also responded to the scene and ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the victim to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy and positive identification.
The victim was identified as Luis Garcia Ocampo.
