The body of a 24 year old hispanic male was recovered from the Trinity River June 1st at approximately 2:30 PM. The victim has been identified as Angel Funtes of Houston Texas.
Captain Jones of the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Department states that the medical examiner has ruled the death an accidential drowning and the family has been notified.
Sheriff Walters would like to thank all of the numerous agencies that spend countless hours at the river during the search and recovery of this young man.
Sheriff Walters would also like to advise everyone that plans to come to the Trinty River as part of their summer experience to be cautious. The river is a dangerous place to swim in and many lives have been lost due to the extremely stong currents that run through that water.
