Brazoria County Deputy Killed in Houston, Manhunt Ongoing

Law enforcement officials gathered in Houston early Wednesday afternoon and confirmed the death of Deputy Eddie Vargas, a 17-year veteran of the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office. Vargas was assigned to the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Taskforce. He and his partner were in the 9300 block of Stella Link and Loop 610 attempting to arrest Robert “Sean” Davis, III when Davis reportedly opened fire, striking and killing Vargas. Davis then fled on foot. Multiple law enforcement agencies converged on the area to assist in the search. The manhunt is ongoing.

Davis is a 56-year-old black man who was wearing a blue Nike hoodie, possibly with a stocking cap, and jeans.
