At approximately 6:35 pm Sunday night MCHD responded to a reported major accident at Summer Hills and Sorters Road in the Porter area. Upon arrival, they were assisted by Porter Fire Department. They found a maroon vehicle in the ditch on the eastbound side of Summer Hills with severe damage to the passenger side. The male passenger had minor injuries and was transported to Memorial Hermann Woodlands. His passenger was deceased at the scene.
According to DPS Trooper Eric Lopez, the vehicle was eastbound on Summer Hills when it failed to negotiate the gradual curve. It continued straight striking the utility pole knocking power out to some 3000 Entergy customers.
The unidentified deceased male was taken to the Southeast Forensic Center in Conroe by Rosewood Funeral Home and an autopsy was ordered by Judge James Metts, Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace.
The accident remains under investigation, it is unknown at this time if alcohol played a factor in this accident.
