Late Wednesday night Gulf Coast Violent Offender Task Force, San Jacinto County and Montgomery County SWAT were able to track down Gabriel Ray Cantu, 19, of Houston on Fawn Lane in Northeast San Jacinto County. The first location they ran on tuned up nothing. however the second location said to be his grandmothers house is the one that produced the results. Dan Jacinto County Sheriff Capers said the suspect tried to flee into the woods but the Montgomery County SWAT Team put a stop to that. Cantu was held overnight in the San Jacinto County Jail and then transferred this evening to the Harris County Jail in Houston.
Cantu is wanted inconnection with the murder of 15-year-old Victoria Cantu who was shot near the intersection of Dyna and I-45 on January 4th after her friends got into a confrontation. Cantu was sitting in the back seat when she was shot. Two of her friends then drove 4 miles to a What A Burger on Airtex . Investigators say the girl was shot in the back but was likely not the intended target.
